Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Building Principal and Activities Director, the Advisor is responsible for providing activity or club programs that instill cooperation, leadership, and direction to all interested students. The advisor develops the annual calendar, plans for the supervision of activities, and performs other duties directly related to this position description.

  

Qualifications:

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) preferred, not required

 

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develops a philosophy for student conduct while participating in a club or activity.
  2. Maintains a high-interest, balanced program to meet student needs throughout the year. 
  3. Serves as a role model for students.
  4. Interacts in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents
  5. Supervises and assists students effectively.  
  6. Promotes good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation.
  7. Establishes dates, times, and places of events for administration approval and placement on the school calendar. 
  8. Collaborates with students to set goals for activities or clubs. 
  9. Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students.  
  10. Schedules, coordinates, and supervises all fundraising projects and follows School Committee Fundraising Policies.  
  11. Maintains accurate financial records regarding fundraising activities. 
  12. Maintains a working budget and follows appropriate district protocol. 
  13. Enforces weekly academic eligibility provided by the administration.
  14. Interacts with Administration and presents information as requested. 
  15. Arranges necessary transportation and supervision for off-campus events. 
  16. Offers leadership and direction to students.  

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Depending on class/student assignment, the employee may occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Repetitive bending at the waist as well as kneeling, stooping, crouching to assist students is also required. Employees may reach overhead as well as above the shoulders and horizontally.
