Job Summary:

The School Psychologist is directly responsible for the psychological assessment of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains utilizing problem-solving and standardized evaluations. The School Psychologist monitors the completion of case study evaluations and participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) conferences and problem-solving meetings designing systems, programs, and services that maximize students’ social, emotional, and educational success. In collaboration with staff, families, students, and communities the school psychologist promotes effective educational environments.  

 

Qualifications:

Professional Educator License (PEL) or eligible for an appropriate license

Master’s Degree and/or Specialist Degree in School Psychology

 

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Staff.

 

Reports to:

Building Principal and  Director of Student Services  

 

Terms of Employment:

This is a 9-month position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborates with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop effective academic and behavioral interventions.
  2. Participates in Team meetings to assist the interpretation and analysis of student data. 
  3. Conducts case study evaluations that may include intellectual, academic, and behavioral assessments. 
  4. Conducts and assists in Functional Behavior Assessments. 
  5. Assists and participates in the development of Behavior Intervention Plans.
  6. Monitors completion of case study evaluations and participate in IEP conferences and problem-solving meetings.
  7. Provides guidance and participates in student benchmarking and progress monitoring activities. 
  8. Conducts classroom observations in order to identify and recommend intervention strategies. 
  9. Provides direct social-emotional services such as counseling, social skills training, and crisis intervention. 
  10. Participates in a professional learning community with a variety of stakeholders including but not limited to instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
  11. Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  12. Assists with the transition from one grade level to the next. 
  13. Coordinates and/or collaborates with a range of individuals/agencies to promote and provide comprehensive services to students and families.
  14. Performs other duties and responsibilities as determined by the principal or designee or as needs arise.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Dependent on class/student assignment the employee may occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Repetitive bending at the waist as well as kneeling, stooping, crouching to assist students is also required. Employees may reach overhead as well as above the shoulders and horizontally.
