Educational Support Personnel - Lunch Recess Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Lunch Recess Supervisor provides assistance and supervision for children during lunch and/or assigned recesses to ensure a positive and safe environment.

High school diploma or GED

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Staff.

Terms of Employment:
This is a 9-month position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
- Supervises students at lunchtime and/or playtime and maintains a harmonious atmosphere by encouraging the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
- Circulates throughout the cafeteria during mealtime. Helps students by opening packages and milk cartons. Cleans up spills and provides additional assistance as needed.
- Assists students through the cafeteria line in an orderly fashion.
- Attends to physical needs of students.
- Assists staff in lunchroom clean-up.
- Interacts with students to maintain order and provide assistance when needed.
- Organizes group games and activities as needed.
- Provides preventative and follow-up behavior management to students exhibiting disruptive behaviors and documents these situations.
- Assumes responsibility for play equipment.
- Implements a variety of behavior plans for students.
- Communicates effectively with staff regarding concerns.
- Directs movement of students to and from the playground, lunchroom, and classrooms in a safe and organized manner.
- Responds to an emergency situation (injured students, fights, etc) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Evaluates student injuries, determines the course of action, performs minor first aid and completes required paperwork in compliance with District policy(ies).
- Participates in professional development as directed.
- Attends staff meetings as needed.
- Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
- Attends work regularly and is punctual.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as determined by the principal or designee or as needs arise.

- Must demonstrate the ability to work as a team member
- Must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with others
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting and standing for extended periods of time. Dependent on class/student assignment the employee may occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 50 pounds. Repetitive bending at the waist as well as kneeling, stooping, crouching to assist students is also required. Employees may reach overhead as well as above the shoulders and horizontally.
